99% of the time, we are idiots compared to the minds who are employed by MLB teams........ but occasionally we as fans see something. From the very second that I saw him clunking around in the OF years ago, I knew that was a bad idea. Truthfully, he shouldn't even own a glove at this point. Just DH and hit dingers.

To think he was a catcher, originally! The Phils were very shorthanded due to injuries, but it was too much of a risk. They acquired Merrifield for just this kind of emergency. Honestly they win in spite of Thomson, not because he can manage a lineup or a bullpen. They're a very good team with a clueless Manager; but the players like him, so he stays.
