thanks for your insightful response. The league's draft pool also was announced on 13 Aug, which probably triggered the addition of several players as free agents. Specifically Reese, Stephens, Ellis Kinder and Earl Harrist to several unaffiliated minor league teams (e.g, Johnstown for Stephens, Louisville for Reese, Jackson for Kinder). All signed with the unaffiliated team on the 13th, and immediately were sold to affiliated teams on the same date. As such, I had no ability to negotiate for their services, as the moves happened instantaneously. Odd glitch in the game.

So, I am playing in commissioner mode, but rarely use the commissioner powers (to maintain realism), so am not great at leveraging the commoner powers. Any suggestion on how I can use "commissioner mode" to remedy the situation and negotiate for the players' services? May need remedial instructions!
