This is how I set mine up. It is impossible to create a 1:1 correlation.
I create a winter league (tournament)
Each Caribbean league is a division within the winter league and each team in the division only plays within the division.
Teams play about 50 games and the team with the best record in each division goes into the playoffs (Caribbean World Series).
For the player selection, players are selected based on regions
(I create regions based on state and providence for Cuba; the Cuba league is based on the CEL and the old Super League where each team is a providence acting as 6 different all-star teams) and each team have its own region of players to select from.
