Offseason news, 1960-1961

-Two new expansion teams were formed: the Washington Senators and Los Angeles Angels.
-The Washington Senators have moved and are now the Minnesota Twins.
-Cincinnati Reds owner Dusty Kyer dies and his son, Joe Kyer, takes over as owner.
-Baltimore Orioles owner Jeff Maringher, Jr. dies and his son, Andy Maringher, takes over as owner.
-New York Yankees owner Eddie Rodriguez dies and his son, Greg Rodriguez, takes over as owner.
-The Cincinnati Reds traded 24-year-old C Jimmie Coker and 23-year-old 1B J.C. Martin to the Philadelphia Phillies, getting 30-year-old RHP Dick Hall in return.
-The St. Louis Cardinals traded 26-year-old CF Jim Landis to the Baltimore Orioles, getting 24-year-old RF Frank Howard and 19-year-old C Tim McCarver in return.
-The Cleveland Guardians traded 33-year-old C Clint Courtney to the Cincinnati Reds, getting 22-year-old LF Charlie James in return.
-The Minnesota Twins traded 24-year-old LF Leo Posada and 24-year-old LF Ray Barker to the Kansas City Athletics, getting 30-year-old LHP Dean Stone in return.
-The Boston Red Sox traded 25-year-old C Gene Oliver to the Cincinnati Reds, getting 25-year-old RHP Ernie Broglio and 24-year-old 2B Tony Taylor in return.
-The Pittsburgh Pirates traded 24-year-old C Doug Camilli to the Los Angeles Dodgers, getting 30-year-old RHP Jim Umbricht in return.
-The Boston Red Sox traded 23-year-old LHP Jim Brewer and 19-year-old CF Nelson Mathews to the Philadelphia Phillies, getting 30-year-old RHP Bob Friend in return.
-The Baltimore Orioles failed to sign 6th round draft pick Paul Brown.
-The Chicago White Sox failed to sign 1st round draft pick Sam McDowell. Did not receive compensation (no offer given).
-The St. Louis Cardinals failed to sign 5th round draft pick Bob Sprout.
-SP Hal Newhouser, SP Bob Feller, and SP Dutch Leonard are inducted into the 1961 class of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
