June 1901's Memorable Moments + Awards
June 1st- Jack McCarthy brings in 8 runs
This was the Blues' 9th victory of the year, as they took down the A's 15-4. McCarthy's 3 hits were an RBI single, a 2-run single, and a bases-clearing double. The other 2 runs were from a groundout and an error.
June 3rd- Weekly Awards
Jimmy Williams ended Nap Lajoie's streak with an AL POTW, while Honus Wagner won another NL POTW.
June 10th- Weekly Awards
In a somewhat uneventful week, Buck Freeman won the AL POTW, while Rube Waddell won the NL POTW.
June 11th- Willie Sudhoff walks 12 batters to set NL record
Despite Sudhoff walking a ridiculous amount of batters, including Roy Thomas 4 times, Sudhoff still got the win, as his Cardinals held off a 9th inning comeback by the Phillies, 8-7 the final.
June 17th- Weekly Awards
Jimmy Collins won the AL POTW, and Jimmy Sheckard won the NL POTW.
June 22nd- DeMontreville goes 5-5 against Bucs
Even though his team lost 6-5 to the Pirates, the Beaneaters' third baseman still had a great game, with all 5 of his hits being singles.
June 24th- ChiSox and Cardinals need to win now for some reason
The ChiSox are in second place, and the Cardinals are in first, but for some reason both of them need to win right now.
June 24th- Weekly Awards
Herm McFarland of the ChiSox won the AL POTW, and Hughie Jennings won the NL POTW.
June 24th- Frank Kitson throws 3-hit shutout with 8 K
The Superbas ace dismantles the Orphans, making them look silly with 8 strikeouts and no walks allowed. What's better is... he threw a Maddux, with just 98 pitches.
July 1st- Weekly Awards
Buck Freeman won the AL POTW, and Doc Newton won the NL POTW.
