Victory, Cherry on Top
The Victory Cave Crickets and Cherry Ghoulrillas are the current leaders in their divisions after the halfway point of the season. The Ghoulrillas, though, only have a one-game lead over Orange and two games over Dark in the South Bradberton Division.
At only 23 years of age, Mike Munchkin could very well have many more months like this last one during his career.
That would be great news for fans of the Victory Cave Crickets, as June was one to remember for the right fielder and he has captured the Nuka World League Batter of the Month award.
On the month he hit .474 with 1 home run, 10 RBIs and 26 runs scored.
During the current season Munchkin is batting at a .424 clip with 4 home runs and 29 RBIs. He has played in 48 games and scored 53 times.
There was little doubt around the Nuka World League that Allen Puckett would be awarded Pitcher of the Month honors for June. Today, they made it official, naming the 30-year-old Orange Tourists starter the latest honoree.
He thoroughly dominated the hitters who stood in against him, holding them to a .266 batting average while fashioning a 2.35 ERA in 5 starts. His record for the month was 5-0 in 38.1 innings of work.
This year Puckett has recorded a 8-1 mark. In 12 starts he has fanned 63 batters in 90.1 innings with a 2.49 ERA.
Orange's Rich Texan collected 31 hits to snare the Nuka World League Rookie of the Month for June.
He batted .352 with 1 home run, 8 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
The 21-year-old is barely old enough to shave, but he could definitely contend for Rookie of the Year if he keeps up this pace.
In this current campaign Texan is hitting at a .318 clip with 3 home runs and 15 RBIs.
In the Amusement Park League, the Safari Adventure Gazelles lead by three games in one division, while the Dry Rock Gulch Convicts and Grandchester Flying Ants are tied in the other division.
Jake Roth has a lot going for him. The Nuka Bottling Plant center fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the Amusement Park League has just picked him as its top hitter for June.
In 24 games last month this outstanding rookie batted .391 with 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
This season Roth is batting .299 with 14 home runs. He has scored 36 runs and driven in 45.
The Amusement Park League announced the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award. It went to bullpen ace Eric Jacobs of Nuka Bottling Plant for his outstanding work on the mound.
During the month, the Pack star stood out with no saves in no save opportunities, a 2.57 ERA and 5 wins and no losses. In 42 innings he struck out 37 and gave up 31 hits and 21 walks.
For the year, Jacobs has collected no saves in 6 relief appearances. He has also rung up 49 strikeouts and 32 walks in 54.1 innings while registering a 4.64 ERA and a 5-2 won-lost mark.
The NWLRL sees the Wixon Cola Kings with a one-game lead in one division and a tie between the Nuka Plant Electrics and Dunmore Ferris Wheels in the other division.
Not known for his offensive prowess, Ernie DaChicken set the league afire in June and took home the NWL Rookie League Batter of the Month award.
The Dunmore right fielder posted a steady .371 batting average, 12 home runs, 24 RBIs and 24 runs.
A look at his season totals shows DaChicken with 15 home runs, .325 BA, .433 OBP, 38 RBIs and 37 runs scored.
The Pitcher of the Month for June has been picked and the NWL Rookie League award went to Wixon hurler, Adrian Beercan.
During the month, Beercan was impressive with a 1.67 ERA and 4 wins and 1 loss. In 27 innings he struck out 33 and gave up 19 hits and 9 walks.
In 10 starts this season Beercan has registered a 4-2 record and a 3.14 ERA.
Finally, the Bradberton Boys League in its newly-expanded season saw the Wixon Shovels sweep the Holyoke Mech Dragons in the Bradberton Boys Series.
Shovels Sweep Bradberton Boys Series
The Wixon Shovels rolled over the Holyoke Mech Dragons 6-5 at Mystery Mansion Minor Park to easily win the 2309 Bradberton Boys Series crown.
Wixon won in a walk and swept the series from the Mech Dragons 2-0. It was their 1st championship title.
Winning manager Roger Fernandez praised his own club as well as the opposition, calling the Mech Dragons "a fine team."
"It wasn't as easy as it looked. We had to play good baseball to beat them," he said. "We always seemed to come up with the key hit at the right time and to make the plays on defense when we had to. That's how you win the Bradberton Boys Series."
The Shovels took first place in the West Division and rounded out the year with a 30-13 record.
All-Star Games
NWL
Brad Krol cemented his status as one of the best in the game with his performance tonight.
"It's an honor to even be invited to the game. To be rewarded as the MVP of the game is extra special," the South Bradberton Division star said after his great showing. "Just playing on the same diamond as some of these guys is a pure treat."
In the game itself, Brad Krol certainly wasn't the only great player out there, but he did enough in the South Bradberton Division's 9-2 win over the North Bradberton Division All-Stars.
In 491 career games, Krol has put up a .284 average, collected 132 doubles, 10 triples, and 70 home runs, driven in 294 runs, and scored 242 times.
It is not an easy task to pick the best players for the annual baseball classic -- the All-Star Game. It is not possible to please everybody. Whether we agree or not, they have been chosen ... and here they are. The rosters for this year's Nuka World League All-Star Game have been announced.

The NWL manager conceded that not every deserving player is rewarded with a spot on the roster. "Every year," he said, "someone is disappointed to be left out. This year's no different -- too many good players, not enough roster spots."
APL
The APL South Division All-Stars reigned supreme tonight at Star Core Stadium at the Galactic Zone, with a 5-3 triumph over the APL North Division All-Stars.
APL South Division first baseman Hunter Wilde led the way for the winning club, putting up a 1-for-3 mark to earn game MVP honors.
"We had some fun out there," he said. "We've got a great league and a great team and I'm not surprised we won."
Wilde has a lifetime .336 average and .421 on-base percentage in his career with 191 hits, 19 doubles, 1 triple, 69 home runs, 159 RBIs and 130 runs scored.
What's the best league? The APL North Division or the APL South Division? The answer will be found in the Amusement Park League All-Star Game. All the votes have been counted and tabulated, all the players have been selected, and they will decide the question on the baseball diamond.

The best of the best took to the field at Billerica Stadium tonight, giving NWLRL fans a show in the annual all-star game.
The North Bradberton Division earned bragging rights with a 9-5 win over the South Bradberton Division.
Convince Morton was named the MVP for his efforts, as he batted 1-for-1 in the contest.
"I'm just glad we won, that's the main thing," he said. "The personal accomplishment isn't something I strive for in an all-star game."
For his career, Morton has hit at a .285 clip. Among his lifetime numbers are 177 hits, 22 doubles, 7 triples, 15 home runs and 78 RBIs.
Nothing is for certain about the 2309 NWL Rookie League All-Star Game. It might be dominated by top-notch pitching performances. Or it could turn into a home run derby. Who knows? Pitch by pitch, inning by inning, the game could feature a little of both -- six strikeouts in a row by a nasty southpaw -- or a 3-homer day for some superstar slugger -- plus great catches, thrills, chills and spills -- all the great and the unexpected things that can happen in a baseball game.

Anglers and Atoms Identical in Place and Record
Both the Eden Meadows Anglers and Grand Hotel Atoms are atop the Vim! League and their divisions at 29-19. The Anglers hold a four-game lead, while the Atoms have a two-game lead. Let's view our top players in the month of June.
Jason Eisch battered Vim! League pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.
"I've been around Vim! League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 32-year-old Eisch told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."
In 24 games, Eisch hit .388 with 10 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 26 runs.
In his 2309 season totals, Eisch has 12 home runs, .340 BA, .406 OBP, 48 RBIs and 35 runs scored.
There was nobody finer on the mound in June and Bossy O'Malley cruised to the Vim! League Pitcher of the Month award today.
He was 6-0 with a 1.91 ERA while piling up 25 strikeouts in 47 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .199 batting average.
For the season O'Malley has logged 9 wins and 2 losses and struck out 43 batters in 85 innings while compiling a 3.39 ERA.
Dex Labb's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Eden Meadows right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.
In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month.
During the month he hit .322 with 1 double, no triples and 7 home runs. Labb also scored 18 times and drove in 16 runs.
Batting .319 to date, Labb has 9 home runs and 22 RBIs.
In the Mount Desert Island League, the Southwest Harbor Rippers have a large seven-game lead in one division, while the Rayburn Point Patcheyes and Eagle's Cove Harpooners are knotted at 26-22 in the other division.
Boss Ross put together a good June to earn the Mount Desert Island League Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Cliff's Edge officials that he belongs on the big league roster.
The Actors left fielder posted a .345 batting average with 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
Ross is batting .354 with 15 home runs and 54 RBIs this season.
When Brent Fox takes the hill, he usually takes command of the game -- at least that's the way it was in June. The outcome was usually a Southwest Harbor victory. His fine 5-0 performance earned him the Mount Desert Island League Pitcher of the Month trophy.
The talented Rippers hurler made 5 starts, worked 42 innings, permitted 38 base hits, and struck out 23 while putting up a 2.57 ERA.
This year Fox has a 7-1 record with a 3.47 ERA in 9 starts.
The ViM! Rookie League also sees a lead and a tie in divisions. The Vim Factory Pops have a four-game lead over two teams, while both the Fringe Cove Champions and Longfellow Pips are tied at 25-29 in the other division.
Even though he is a newcomer to VIM! Rookie League, Mack Triggerfinger put up some good numbers in June and earned the VRL Batter of the Month award.
He was one of Longfellow's offensive leaders with a .333 average in 24 games. He also racked up 9 home runs, 32 RBIs, and 26 runs scored.
This year Triggerfinger is hitting .298 with 21 home runs.
Amray Mukanda of Kitteredge had an outstanding June with a 5-0 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the VIM! Rookie League.
He topped off the month with a 3.06 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 35.1 innings, fanned 35 and held opposing teams to a .254 average.
Over the season Mukanda has thrown 76.1 innings and dished out 68 strikeouts with a 7-2 mark and a 4.13 ERA.
In the Maine Youth Leagues, there is a new champion!
With a 12-11 win over the Echo Point Glowers at Echo Point Park today, the Beaver Creek Bowlers wrapped up their 1st title in team history.
The Bowlers left little doubt who was the better team. Celebrating a banner year, "team" was the word of the day in the victorious clubhouse after the game.
"Hitting, pitching, fielding; those are all things you need to win, but most importantly you need a team, a team that works together toward the same collective goal," said Beaver Creek manager Derek LeBlanc. "Our players felt that way all year, and they played that way. When one guy had an off day, 24 others stepped up their game and filled the void."
A jovial mood filled the air as Beaver Creek celebrated into the night. The city's mayor said parade plans were underway and a "huge celebration" would be in order.
"I hope they have a big celebration," Echo Point manager Indergabriell Lorenzo said. "They deserved to win this series and they deserve to celebrate it."

There's a whole lot of pride on the line when the best baseball players throughout Mount Desert Island League gather for the all-star game.
It was no different this year, as the Small Bertha Division bested the Old Longfellow Division by a score of 5-2, in a spirited contest played at The Lumber Yard.
"It might be a little lower intensity than the regular season or playoffs, but everyone in that clubhouse still wants to win this game," said Kevin Mugshot of the Small Bertha Division, who was named the game MVP.
Mugshot has hit for a .304 career average and totaled 510 hits, 57 home runs and 266 RBIs.
It's All-Star Game time -- time for the superstars to shine! Every year Mount Desert Island League takes a break in the schedule to play the annual All-Star Game. It's a battle of the superstars -- the Small Bertha Division All-Stars versus the Old Longfellow Division All-Stars. The All-Star Game will spotlight the best hitters, the best pitchers and the best fielders, all doing battle against one another, all trying to prove their league is best.

During the star-studded affair, the 2309 Western Atlantic Division All-Stars defeated the Eastern Atlantic Division All-Stars by a score of 6-3.
The fans in attendance at Devil Dogs Field certainly enjoyed the show, seeing the best that the game had to offer.
Chief among the stars was Bad Breath Seth, who led the Western Atlantic Division to victory.
"I will admit I was nervous out there. To share a field with such incredible players is always a humbling experience. But after the first couple pitches, you just have to ignore the talent out there and focus on your game," Seth commented as he accepted his award after the game.
His lifetime stats show Seth has batted .256 and collected 203 hits, 46 home runs and 134 RBIs.
