CBO Players of the Month
Top Hitting Performance - Fourteen-year vet, Atom's 3B Shane Stabb, put out the top hitting performance in June. On June 8 against Diamond City, Stabb went 5 for 5 with a home run, a walk, five runs, and four RBI. The five runs scored tied an SCA record.
Top Pitching Performance - SP Beachboy Nut of Nordhagen Beach had the most outstanding pitching performance in June, throwing a complete-game four-hitter on June 8 against Sunshine Tidings. Nut walked one and struck out 12, matching Diamond City's Sheng Kawolski for the top strikeout performance in the 2309 season.
NCA Hitter - Brian DeLong may be much younger than other hitters in the North Charles Association, but he performed like a seasoned veteran in June to win the Batter of the Month award.
The 24-year-old Salem right fielder hit .457 with 10 home runs, 21 RBIs and 25 runs scored.
DeLong is hitting .357 this year with 21 home runs and 45 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .472, 50 walks and scored 46 times.
SCA Hitter - When guys like University Point's Barker Cocoa win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive June, the longtime South Charles Association veteran toyed with opposing pitchers, collecting 34 hits in 77 at-bats.
The veteran first baseman hit for a .442 batting average and collected 11 home runs, 30 RBIs and 30 runs scored.
So far on the season Cocoa is hitting .444 with 30 home runs, 83 RBIs and 81 runs scored. He has 99 hits and played in 64 games.
NCA Pitcher - Whokill Poole of the Starlight Killers is the North Charles Association Pitcher of the Month. In June, he sparkled and shined on the mound with 5 wins and no losses in 5 starts.
Poole checked opposing batters on 38 base hits and a .244 batting average. He rang up 28 strikeouts in 42.1 innings of work, surrendered 5 walks and fashioned a 2.13 ERA.
Up to now Poole has recorded a record of 10-2. In 14 starts he has fanned 72 batters in 102.1 innings with a 3.25 ERA.
SCA Pitcher - The South Charles Association scribes have picked June's Pitcher of the Month and have given the trophy to Fosdyke Rochambeau of Quincy. He was devastating on the mound last month with a standout 5-0 mark.
The Gunners star hurler made 6 starts with a 3.18 ERA and surrendered 38 hits in 45.1 innings. He struck out 25 and walked 11.
Thus far this season, Rochambeau has tossed 116 innings in 16 starts, fanned 57 batters, walked 39 and put up a 3.65 ERA with 8 wins and 2 losses.
NCA Rookie - Freak Mouton is living a dream. Not only did he net the North Charles Association's Rookie of the Month Award today, but the 21-year-old has put together a string of starts that has everybody talking all the league.
In the month of June the Fort Hagen starter was 3-0 as he put up a 3.64 ERA. He also totaled 16 strikeouts in 29.2 innings, while holding opponents to a .287 average. Pretty good stats for a rookie.
Looking at his season stats, Mouton has won 6 and lost 5, collecting 55 strikeouts and 45 walks in 89 innings with a 4.65 ERA.
SCA Rookie - For the last month Clueless Gunsmith has done his best to prove he can be a big game pitcher for the Egret Ninjas. He was the best newcomer and picked up the South Charles Association Rookie of the Month trophy.
In June Gunsmith rang up a fine 2-0 record in 0 starts as he dominated league batters with an excellent 0.00 ERA. He worked 6 innings, collecting 5 strikeouts while walking 0.
This year Gunsmith has earned no saves, worked 12 innings, fanned 9 hitters and recorded a 3.00 ERA. He has also put up a 2-0 won-lost mark.
MML Analysis
With almost 2/3 of the season complete, the MML divisional races are not at all settled. The largest lead is one game, with the Ted Williams Division holding a three-way tie. Divisional leaders in the non-tied divisions are the Abernathy Adamantium, Everett Mutant Hounds, and Brookline Bandoliers. The tied division is among the Providence Warlocks, Worcester Cannons, and Wellesley Wanderers.
The Bandoliers' Danny Marker had the best-hitting performance in June. He had a 3 for 4 day on June 4 in a 19-1 win over Braintree. In that game, Marker hit two home runs, walked twice, scored five runs, and drove in five runs. Marker is batting .291 with 10 home runs and 38 RBI.
On June 27, Jeff Lienhard of Warwick had the month's and season's best pitching performance. In the Mirelurks' 11-0 win over Sandwich, Lienhard pitched a complete-game four-hit shutout, striking out 15 in the process. On the season, Lienhard is 6-4 with a 5.06 ERA in 16 starts.
MML Players of the Month
LL Hitter - It's perhaps an award he'll win many more times through his career, as at age 25 Jumping Jehoshaphat Cobb has a lot of baseball ahead of him.
But for now the young Lynn Fortune Finders star can enjoy the numbers he put up in June, which have garnered him the nod as the Legends League Batter of the Month.
His breakout month featured a .422 average with 8 home runs, 22 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
Currently Cobb has 14 home runs and a .301 batting average.
SL Hitter - When Mountainside Rockhand stepped up to the plate in June he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Stars League Batter of the Month award.
The young Braintree first baseman posted a .421 batting average with 6 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 19 runs. Rockhand also worked pitchers for 13 walks to post a .486 on-base percentage.
In the 2309 season Rockhand is hitting .372 with 11 home runs.
LL Pitcher - The Danvers Sonics felt very secure when they sent Jeremy Wyckoff out to the hill last month. The 25-year-old starter went after Legends League hitters with a vengeance and earned June's Pitcher of the Month award.
He went 5-0 with a 1.09 ERA as he struck out 35 in 49.1 innings over 6 starts.
In 16 starts this year Wyckoff has recorded a 8-4 record and a 3.46 ERA.
SL Pitcher - The Worcester Cannons owe Justin Hodges a lot for his performance this past month. One of the league's most dominant starters in June, Hodges tore up the opposition with a fine 4-0 mark on his way to the Stars League Pitcher of the Month award.
"When you're pitching this well," analyzed Hodges, "it's a lot easier to come to the park. I don't judge my performance by the stats, I judge it -- the team judges it -- by the score of the game. I could say I'm tossing electric stuff right now and that would go over big. But if I toss that same stuff -- exact same pitch selection and location -- and they bang me around tomorrow, I was awful. That's the way baseball is."
It was Hodges who did the banging in June as he tossed up 36 strikeouts in 47 innings, holding opponents to a .247 average and posting a 2.68 ERA.
Hodges has a 5-0 season record so far. In 8 starts, he has fanned 46 batters in 61 innings with a 3.25 ERA.
BMU Analysis
The BMU just surpassed its midway point of the season. League leaders are the Brockton Irish; Mystic Pines Raybathers; Neponset Park Criticals; and Forest Grove Pugilists.
The top hitting performance in June was by Marlborough's Jaden Castle on June 11 against Marblehead. Castle was 3 for 4 with three home runs, two walks, four runs, and five RBI in the 17-7 victory. Castle is batting .310 with six home runs and 24 RBI in 44 games.
The best pitching performance of the month happened on June 8 when Spanky Sutherland of Woburn pitched a complete-game shutout of Marblehead. In the game, he allowed three hits and struck out eight. Sutherland is 5-2 with a 4.66 ERA in 12 starts.
BMU Players of the Month
CA Hitter - Zaire Inquisitor made his presence known as one of the best young stars in the Commonwealth Association this past month.
The Mystic Pines Raybathers left fielder shined through the month of June and has won the Batter of the Month award.
The 23-year-old hit .449 with 9 home runs, 21 RBIs and 27 runs scored.
This season Inquisitor is swinging the bat at a .431 rate with 62 hits in 144 at-bats. To date he has hit 11 home runs, scored 44 runs and driven in 32.
MA Hitter - Mayoral Shelter Tricentennials fans may just have witnessed a star player blossoming before their eyes in June.
Pooja Berrie put up a remarkable month at the age of 21 and has been named the Massachusetts Association Batter of the Month.
For the month, Berrie hit .486 with 7 home runs, 27 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
Berrie is currently hitting at a .356 pace with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs.
CA Pitcher - Spanky Sutherland is the latest Commonwealth Association Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Woburn starter shone on the hill repeatedly last month and finished June with a sparkling 4-0 record.
In 5 starts he tossed 33.2 innings, posted 23 strikeouts, and put up a 1.60 ERA.
Checking out his stats for the year, Sutherland has racked up 5 wins and 2 losses in 12 starts, posted a 4.66 ERA, and struck out 49 batters in 65.2 innings.
MA Pitcher - In June, the best pitcher in the Massachusetts Association was Willie Dustice, thanks to some sensational numbers coming out of the bullpen.
The Forest Grove relief ace compiled a 2-0 mark and an ERA of 2.45 in 11 innings with 9 strikeouts and 7 saves in 7 save opportunities.
This year Dustice has 20 relief appearances with 13 saves, 4-1 season record and a 1.61 ERA. He has hurled 22.1 innings, given up 15 hits, struck out 18 and walked 7. Opposing clubs have batted .195 against the Forest Grove reliever.
GBRL Analysis
Current division leaders at the halfway point are the Lynn Woods Bloatflies, Nuka Express Chrono Cowboys, Cabot House Triggermen and Park Street AntAgonizers in the Southeast Division, and Pioneer Park Hackers.
The top hitting performance blew away the other performances of the season. On June 11, Cabot House's Yanto Chase had a big day against Corvega in a 14-3 blowout. Chase was 4 for 5 with three home runs in three consecutive innings, a walk, four runs, and five RBI. Chase is a .277 hitter with 16 home runs and 31 RBI on the season in his professional debut after being taken in the 1st round of the 2308 Draft.
Nuka Express's SP Shaggy Doo was considered to have the best performance in June. Doo struck out 10, walked one, and allowed three hits in a complete-game shutout over Hyde Park on June 12.
GBRL Players of the Month
NL Hitter - For a rookie just breaking in, Whitebear Whittington certainly put together a successful month. It was good enough to win the NL Batter of the Month award for June.
The 18-year-old first baseman for the Lynn Woods Bloatflies hit .371 with 11 home runs, 24 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
This season Whittington is hitting .343 with 12 home runs.
SL Hitter - Eli Durus is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Pioneer Park left fielder joined that select company when the South League announced the results of June's voting.
Durus totaled 25 hits, 9 walks, 14 home runs, 28 RBIs and 19 runs scored last month to put together a .379 batting average and .456 on-base percentage.
Durus is currently hitting at a .353 pace with 26 home runs, 54 RBIs and has scored 45 times.
NL Pitcher - James Komor of the Lynn Woods Bloatflies strung a bunch of high quality starts together in June to earn the North League Pitcher of the Month trophy.
For the month he finished with a superlative 4 wins and no losses and a 3.06 ERA. The Lynn Woods star started 4 games, pitched 32.1 innings and struck out 33.
In 9 starts this season Komor has crafted a 7-2 record with a 3.53 ERA.

For the month he finished with a superlative 4 wins and no losses and a 3.06 ERA. The Lynn Woods star started 4 games, pitched 32.1 innings and struck out 33.
In 9 starts this season Komor has crafted a 7-2 record with a 3.53 ERA.
BCAC Analysis
There are 26 games remaining in the 2309 season for each team. With that many games remaining, there are still races but also the beginning of the end for others. At this point of the season, the Harvard Crimson leads the North Division by four games, while the South Division is a tie between the Commonwealth Terriers and Mass Bay Beacons.
C Stray Cat Whiskers of MBU had the top day so far this season, peppering Northeastern with hits through the game in the Beacons' 12-10 road win. In the game, Whiskers was 5 for 5 with two doubles, two home runs, with four runs and four RBI. Whiskers is batting .339 with three home runs and 36 RBI.
Tufts University's Cutter Redman has had some impressive pitching performances in the 2309 season, but his game against CIT on June 26 was the best. Redman pitched a no-hitter, just missing a perfect game by walking one batter. He struck out 11 in the game and completed the first no-hitter in BCAC history. On the season, Redman is 11-7 with a 3.98 ERA in 19 starts.
BCAC Players of the Month
BCAC Hitter - Boston College Eagles fans believe they've got a talented young star in Stoo Berko.
He did nothing to dissuade that notion in June, as he hit .368 with 8 home runs, 18 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
The end result was the left fielder being named the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference Batter of the Month.
So far this year Berko is batting .309 with 16 home runs.
BCAC Pitcher - The best pitcher this past month in the Boston Collegiate Athletic Conference was Cutter Redman of the Tufts University Jumbos. He really razzle-dazzled league hitters, finishing June with a standout 4-2 record and 2.77 ERA.
The Jumbos hurler made 7 starts and surrendered 35 hits in 52 innings. He struck out 62 and walked 12.
To date Redman is 11-7 in 19 starts with a 3.98 ERA and has 142 strikeouts in 135.2 innings.
CYL Playoffs
The CYL season is down to just four teams: the Beantown Sprouts, South Charles Bank Moonies, Taunton Giants, and Brown Bubblers. The NR's #1 seed Sprouts swept both the Wellesley Brahmin and Covenant Dandy Boys to reach the Regional Finals. The NR's #2 seed Moonies also swept their way to the Regional Finals with series wins over the Diamond City Newsboys and the North Charles Bank Goonies. In the SR, the #1 seed Taunton Giants won each of its series two games to one: over the Jamaica Plain Treasures and the Harwich Fishheads. Brown is the #3 seed and got to the Regional Finals by sweeping the West Quincy Atomatoys and Thompson Heights Earthlings.
