In Replay Mode, the default is historical transactions and line-ups. I'd use default mode for dropping yourself in baseball history. On Game Settings be sure to go to Players' tab and ensure Development is toggled on (not disabled). Also be sure to toggle Commissioner Mode on. Then on the Free Agent screen list, on the far-righthand side there is a drop down to add a fictional player. You will be able to select characteristics of that imported player. Once you get one to your satisfaction, delete the others and open that player's editor page. Change the name (for the name be sure to hit enter after you changed the text).
