MLB news: Sept. 25 -- Twins are champions of the American League Central
With a 3-2 win over the Seattle Mariners, the Minnesota Twins have clinched the championship of the American League Central Division.
At 96-57, the Twins are 10.5 games in front of the Cleveland Guardians with nine games left in the season.
Minnesota also is close to clinching the overall top seed in the American League playoffs, as it owns a nine-game advantage over AL-West leading Houston.
The division title is the second in the last three years for Minnesota.
The Twins have not made the World Series since 1991, when they defeated the Atlanta Braves in seven games.
