Trades before the trading deadline, awards for July, and standings at the start of August 1921

Trades before the trading deadline:
-The Boston Braves traded 30-year-old SSP Ray Chapman to the St. Louis Browns, getting 28-year-old SP Allen Sothoron in return.
-The Pittsburgh Pirates traded 30-year-old SP Bill Doak to the Cleveland Guardians, getting 24-year-old 2B Hod Ford and 24-year-old 1B Johnny Walker in return.
-The Philadelphia Phillies traded 27-year-old 2B Cotton Tierney to the Chicago White Sox, getting 27-year-old RP Jesse Winters and 24-year-old LF Bevo LeBourveau in return.
-The New York Giants traded 30-year-old 1B Vic Saier to the Chicago White Sox, getting 30-year-old SP Fred House in return.

CF Babe Ruth of the St. Louis Browns wins the AL Batter of the Month Award with 13 home runs, 26 RBIs, and 24 runs scored.

SP Bob Shawkey of the Boston Red Sox wins the AL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 6-3 record, 3.10 ERA, and 29 strikeouts.
SP Dolf Luque of the St. Louis Cardinals wins the NL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 7-1 record, 2.99 ERA, and 28 strikeouts.
