In your opinion.
The more I look at the players ratings tab, with indents on the left and no indents on the "splits" section on the right side of the screen, the more the indent makes sense, in both function and ease to read. On the pitcher's screen the three ratings on the left margin are the original "big 3" stuff/movement/control. These are in the same order they are on the player popup.
The batter is almost the same with the "big 3, contact/power/eye being the top and bottom two in the list, ie easy to see. I think putting power and eye together on the bottom was a conscious decision to keep those core ratings together. Note in early screenshots power was above gap, and separate from eye. Of course gap is on the left too as it's not a subset to power, ie Power only deals with HR, while gap only deals with balls in play (or the occasional ground rule double). So, the ratings on the left margin also closely match the batter popup too.
Maybe I'm different but, in all previous versions the only thing the bars did was draw my eye. I never looked at how full a bar was and, in my mind, transcribe that into a rating. I didn't have to because those numbers are listed on the left side of the bar. So, the bar draws my eye, the numbers tell me what the rating is of the skill in question. I literally can't look at the bar without seeing the number.
It's the same now with the indented bars. They too draw my eye, with the numbers on the left side. Sorry, but I can't imagine anyone looks at the bars without seeing the numbers. Maybe that's just me?
The "splits" side of the player ratings screen with everything on the left margin? I could almost call that side of the screen unusable. I won't though because the eye can be trained to find what it's looking for. The question then becomes "why make it harder?".
At the end of the day, for me

, the bars are easier to read and interpret because they are indented.
The fix is to petition Matt or Markus to add yet again another option. That's ok, it's what OOTP does. Instead of being on a quest to remove something already in the game that others like and use, maybe put that energy to adding something to the game. They did it to reorder the bars when hiding the new ratings. Maybe you can get them to do the same for the margin? I can't think of any reason
** that someone that likes the indents would oppose a suggestion to make it optional.
Everybody wins.
** Someone may post OOTP has too many options now. Really, one more is going to make a difference?
