Hit #2,000 for Athletics Lajoie
The box score from yesterday's game will show that Philadelphia beat the Washington Senators, 10-6. It will also show that second baseman Nap Lajoie went 4-for-6 for the Athletics. It will not show, however, that Lajoie reached the 2,000-hit mark for his career.
The 32-year-old Lajoie reflected on the achievement after the game. He mused: "In one respect, it's a real milestone, I guess. Yet, it's just a base hit like any other base hit."
In 1,346 career games Lajoie has hit .356 with 2,001 hits, 75 home runs, 1,011 RBIs, and scored 1,083 runs.
