Trades before the 1903 trading deadline, awards, and standings at the start of August 1903

Trades before the trading deadline:
-The St. Louis Cardinals traded 29-year-old SSP Bobby Wallace to the Chicago Cubs, getting 23-year-old 3B Art Devlin and 24-year-old C Red Dooin in return.
-The Cincinnati Reds traded 32-year-old C Heinie Peitz to the Pittsburgh Pirates, getting 24-year-old RP Fred Burchell in return.
-The Washington Senators traded 30-year-old CF Fred Odwell to the Chicago Cubs, getting 23-year-old RP Bob Rhoads and 23-year-old SP Charlie Case in return.
-The New York Highlanders traded 20-year-old CF Denny Sullivan to the St. Louis Browns, getting 30-year-old SP Bob Ewing in return.
-The Chicago Cubs traded 22-year-old SP Tom Fisher to the St. Louis Browns, getting 30-year-old SP Pink Hawley in return.
-The Philadelphia Phillies traded 27-year-old LF George Browne and 22-year-old RP Cy Falkenberg to the St. Louis Cardinals, getting 28-year-old RP Willie Sudhoff and 24-year-old LF Shad Barry in return.

Awards
1B Harry Davis of the Philadelphia Athletics wins the AL Batter of the Month Award with 5 home runs, 18 RBIs, and 23 runs scored.
1B Ed Delahanty of the Philadelphia Phillies wins the NL Batter of the Month Award with 2 home runs, 24 RBIs, and 21 runs scored.
SP Wiley Piatt of the Philadelphia Athletics wins the AL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 6-0 record, 1.96 ERA, and 33 strikeouts.
SP Doc White of the Philadelphia Phillies wins the NL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 6-1 record, 1.82 ERA, and 35 strikeouts.
SP Charles Bender of the Cleveland Naps wins the AL Rookie of the Month Award with a 4-2 record, 1.41 ERA, and 32 strikeouts.
SP Ed Killian of the Philadelphia Phillies wins the NL Rookie of the Month Award with a 6-0 record, 2.67 ERA, and 14 strikeouts.

In the AL, the Boston Americans (56-35) lead the Detroit Tigers by 4 and a half games while, in the NL, the Pittsburgh Pirates (63-30) lead the Chicago Cubs by 9 and a half games.
