Good question! He's a good hitter so I wanted him to learn an offensive position in case his hitting improved.


So I set his position to CF and then selected "Learn a New Position". Then before training started I shifted him back to P because I wanted to be sure that any TCR 200 effects that might happen during this period would improve his pitching, not his hitting. And the position he ended up learning was DH. So when I tried this again the next-offseason I left him as a CF and he learned LF.


Yeah, people meta-game this.

edit: also, if you want your P to learn running skills you have to set them to a non-P position for the start of the training.
