Once the regular season opens, spring training is over. So there'd be a week without spring training games in OOTP. I highly doubt there has been any change to how OOTP handles this.
The only workaround would be to move the overseas game to later in the regular season, and adjust the season opening date accordingly.
I know for some of the other years with overseas openers someone posted modified schedule files which moved the overseas games to later in the season. I took a quick look at the 2024 schedule and there doesn't appear to be any perfectly convenient dates to the move the games to. So a measure of compromise would have to be judged acceptable.
