I think that was an awesome addition last version. I'd love to see more calendar events become "things", like the Winter Meetings are a huge IRL event, but in the game they are just an announcement with some extra trade feeler slots allowed. Would be super cool if they could incorporate some new wrinkles into that event.
The offseason is my favorite part of the game so anything that adds to that chaos/fun would be a really cool add imho.

I agree about the trade deadline. I would add though that if you turn down AI trade frequency (to stop the Ais from doing a dozen trades a day, as they do on default), you barely get any offers during the deadline and it's kind of a snooze. Ai-to-player offer frequency should be its own slider separate from ai-to-ai trade frequency.
