I'd prefer it stay the way it is, each team gets a fair opportunity with the team winning the toss having the advantage of deferring (no idea how SF didn't get this right) and becoming the team that knows what it needs to do. I think the NFL has this right, it's a fair way to end the game in a reasonable amount of time.
The trouble with a "normal" clock is the players are absolutely gassed. The issue of player safety along with play becoming so sloppy due to fatigue it could ruin the outcome of, what up to that point was, a well played game is why the game needs to be played out as quickly and fairly as possible IMHO. Sure they could come up with a different method that I might like better, but a full set clock, again IMHO, isn't the answer.
