Around the NHL:
Despite Eichel on the IL, Shea Theodore and William Karlsson have led Vegas (7-2-1, 15 points) to a strong start in their title defense. The Golden Knights lead the league in goals, and are top 5 in goals against.
Marchand is still elite on both sides of the puck. However, stars can only get you so far, and without production from the lower lines, Boston has started the season in a slump, with a 3-5-1 record, bottom of the Atlantic division.
While making the big preseason move of signing Patrick Kane, October has not been the Coyotes month. New acquisition Dillon Dube has also been quiet in front of goal, as Arizona are yet to win a game, and have the least goals scored of any NHL team.
Calder Race
Connor Bedard (CHI) is showing why he was the first overall pick. With 9 points from his first 6 games, Bedard is the early frontrunner for the Calder Trophy this year. A strong performance from Henry Thrun (9 GP, 1 G, 7 A) puts him second in the odds, as a small group of players begin to clump together behind him. The only rookie goalie so far, Devon Levi (6GP, .942 sv, 1.85 GAA) has also made a strong showing for a Calder chance.
