Awards for May:
Second baseman Nap Lajoie of the Philadelphia Athletics wins the AL Batter of the Month Award with 4 home runs, 29 RBIs, and 17 runs scored.
Left fielder Fred Clarke of the Pittsburgh Pirates wins the NL Batter of the Month Award with 0 home runs, 23 RBIs, and 17 runs scored.
Starting pitcher Cy Young of the Boston Americans wins the AL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 6-1 record and a 1.97 ERA.
Starting pitcher Jack Chesbro of the Pittsburgh Pirates wins the NL Pitcher of the Month Award with a 6-1 record and a 1.97 ERA.
Starting pitcher Jim St. Vrain of the Cleveland Bronchos wins the AL Rookie of the Month Award with a 4-3 record and a 2.25 ERA.
Starting pitcher Addie Joss of the New York Giants wins the NL Rookie of the Month Award with a 4-3 record and a 2.63 ERA.
Looking at the standings, the Boston Americans are now 4 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers while, in the NL, the Pittsburgh Pirates are 6 games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies for first place. It will be seen if this continues as the season heads on.
