Canucks trade veteran to Vegas
December 31st, 2017 -
In a minor trade this afternoon the Canucks moved defenseman Nick Schultz, who has been toiling in Utica all year after failing to make the team, to Vegas in exchange for nineteen year old blueliner Gustav Lindstrom. The 35 year old Schultz has played in 35 games for the Comets of the AHL and has a +4 rating and 50 PIMs. Vegas wanted his shutdown abilities and experience. Vancouver recoups an asset in Lindstrom who is a defensive defenseman with a great stick but poor hockey IQ and skating. Lindstrom could become a useful depth defenseman if he rounds out his game. This trade was mostly about giving veteran Nick Schultz an NHL opportunity he wasn't going to have in Vancouver though, and anything Lindstrom becomes for the Canucks organization will be a bonus.
