Vancouver trying to get back on track, recall DeSmith
December 9th, 2017 -
The Anthony Stolarz as an NHL backup experiment didn't go well, and in 4 appearances he had a .838 save percentage. After a rough November in which they won only 4 of 15 games and sunk back into the basement of the West Vancouver has won two games in a row for the first time in over a month. They are weathering the Vlasic injury decently well on the blue line. Moving Filatov down to the fourth line seems to have ignited him offensively while Bo Horvat seems to be having more success since Jared McCann moved up to his line. Now would be a bad time to lose momentum due to an incompetent backup goalie. Bylsma is hoping the time in Utica rebuilt DeSmith's confidence and reset him a bit.
