Game 100: Boston Americans vs. Detroit Tigers

The 100th game of the season and the Boston Americans (53-47) topped the Detroit Tigers (49-51) by a score of 8 to 2. With the win, the Americans sit 6 games out of the top spot with just 2 weeks left before the trading deadline.

Cy Young (8-13) pitched a fine game, allowing 2 unearned runs on just 4 hits and 1 walk; Game Score 77. Nixey Callahan (2-13) continued his struggles as he gave up 8 runs (6 earned) on 14 hits, 3 walks, and 1 wild pitch in 8 2/3 innings of play; Game Score 25. Ed Fisher covered the final 1/3 inning of scoreless ball.

The hitting-attack was working well today for the Americans, as Fred Clarke (3 for 5, Double, Run, 3 RBIs), Chick Stahl (1 for 2, Double, Run, 2 Walks), and Frank Chance (3 for 5, 2 Runs, RBI, Stolen Base). Roger Bresnahan (2 for 4, RBI, Stolen Base) and Freddy Parent (1 for 2, Run, RBI, Stolen Base) played well in the loss.
