I've noticed something similar to this. Memory is that if a non 40 man player is injured in ST and I move him to the 60 day he accrues MLB time. Try to move him to AAA and OOTP says player is injured put him on the injured list.

It's been a while since this happened so this may not be 100% accurate. Also my saves stay on the version where they started so this is a 23 observation.
