Once again the Rays had a late lead and chance to win their third game in the series and once again the bullpen blew it. After a shock 7-run 5th inning which erased a seemingly-insurmountable 5-0 Baltimore lead, the pen was entrusted the rest of the way and that turned out to be a problem.
Matt Cronin gave up a key hit that made it 7-6 and then in the 8th
Hayden Juenger, so good during the regular season and so horrible in the playoffs, gave up the tying run on a Colton Cowser double, one of his five hits on the day. And in the 11th, just when it looked like
Andrew Nardi would pitch out of a first-and-third, nobody out situation by getting two straight strikeouts, he gave up a two-out walk-off RBI single to Adley Rutschman. So now it's up to
Taj Bradley in a couple of days to keep the season alive at Tropicana Field.
