However, this year I have had some SERIOUS issues with player development. In fact, I'm having issues with players developing AT ALL. This has caused me to look over some of the mechanics that go into development (coaching, budgets, morale, on field production, etc., etc.}, and ask for some clarification on some of these to get a better understanding.
1} If you have a hitting coach whose hitting coaching type is NEUTRAL, as opposed to Power Hitters, Contact Hitters, does that mean, you don't get a boost for a certain type of hitter, but you also dont get a penalty either? Or does that mean NEUTRAL type hitters?
I hope that makes sense. I'm asking because in an effort to better understand development, i have been tweaking and trying different tactics to get different results, One thing i have tried is making all my coaches neutral so I get a steady no bonus, no penalty type of approach. For the record, none of these efforts have worked, which is why im asking these questions.
2} I took all my coaches and altered their personality in an effort to get maximum results. I synchronized their positive relationship types with the players on each team accordingly. Then I took their negative relationship types and switched to "-" or nothing, in an attempt to get rid of any negative effects. Would this be the correct thing to do in seeking maximum results?
3} In a player's personality ratings, there are the three attributes of handle success, handle failure, etc. Is 200 the BEST possible or the WORST possible? Similar to controversy, which i believe you want as low as possible.
4} If you set player aging to .900 {default is 1.000}, does that mean the player will age slower? Or is it the other way around?
5} I made all catchers in the organization have high catching ability to help my pitchers out, Ive promoted/demoted players based on their on field production, I have made sure to have at least one or two "captain" personality types on the team, at every level. I make sure all my pitching coaches have the hitting/pitching slider all the way to pitching, Same thing with the hitting coaches, etc. I have all my minor league coaches on HIGHLY FAVOR TOOLS. I also have their focus sliders set all the way on DEVELOPMENT, SCOUTING RECCOMENDATION, DRAFT and INTERNTIONAL. I make sure all players have high morale and there are no unhappy players. I keep the roster size to one in which all players can get an opportunity to play.
I could keep going as I'm sure there are many more things that I do, but my point is that I have been playing OOTP for years and have a pretty good understanding of the game. I also understand that some players flame out and nothing is guaranteed and there is probably no way to do so. However, it seems like this year in particular I jsut absolutely cannot get my players to develop. Im in my 3rd 6+ year franchise game. In this game, i have edited, manipulated and set up everything I know of in order to get better development results. Maxed development budgets and everything I listed above, i am still not getting results. I figured I would get some fresh takes and ideas in combination with the clarification of the questions above to see if there is something I'm missing or something I can try. I appreciate any feedback and thanks so much for reading this, I really appreciate it
