Game 55: Boston Americans vs. St. Louis Browns
After a rocky start that saw them fall behind by a 3 to 0 score in the first inning, the Boston Americans (27-28) stormed back to take the lead and ultimately the game in a 5 to 3 victory over the St. Louis Browns (24-31). This was the 6th consecutive loss for the Browns.
While Noodles Hahn was roughed up in the first inning, he settled down and pitched a solid game. Hahn (7-6) allowed 3 runs (0 earned) on 8 hits and 1 walk on a total of 130 pitches tossed; Game Score 70. Tom Hughes (6-7) was burdened with the loss after allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 10 hits and 7 walks (YIKES); Game Score 47.
Frank Chance (4 for 4, Triple, Run, Walk), Fred Clarke (2 for 5, 2 RBIs), and Dave Brain (1 for 4, Triple, Run, RBI, Walk) had a solid day at the plate for Boston, while Kip Selbach (2 for 4, 2 Doubles, Run) and Charlie Babb (2 for 4, Run) played well in the loss.
