Ireland's Tommy Cleary was having a fighter of the year sort of year in 2023. In January he took the WBA LW belt from Tank Davis when Tank broke his hand 50 seconds into the 5th & quit.

Then in May, Tommy took the WBC title via a 15 MD over Devin Haney - dropping Devin in the 8th for an 8 count from a hard cross.

For his 1st unified defense, the DR's Edwin De Los Santos came to Ireland & took the belt home via a 15 MD (141-141 & 142-140 twice).

Edwin dropped Cleary in the 12th with a hard upper & 9 count. In the 15th Tommy went for broke dropping Edwin twice - an upper for 9 & a cross for an 8 count. In the end it wasn't enough as Edwin also won the PL battle 359 (29%) to 345 (30%).
