In the bottom of the first, the Orioles loaded the bases with nobody out. Two scored on a Williams two-bagger. A walk reloaded the bases with still nobody out. Bresnahan got an email with a sacrifice fly. An RBI single by Howell followed as the Orioles batted around the order in the first inning of the game.
In the top of the second, Dowd got a two-out run-scoring single to put the Americans on the board.
In the bottom of the third, an RBI single by Bresnahan increased the Orioles lead.
After three: Baltimore 5 Boston 1.
In the top of the fourth, Schreckengost came up big with an RBI triple. Hemphill followed with an RBI single.
In the top of the fifth, Collins got a two-out RBI single to make it a one-run game.
After six: Baltimore 5 Boston 4.
In the top of the seventh, the Americans tied it up thanks to an RBI single by Collins. The Americans went on to load the bases with nobody out. Hemphill brought home all three with a triple. With a runner on third and nobody out, Crazy Schmit took the mound for the Orioles. Dowd hit an inside-the-park home run to blow the game wide open. After giving up that home run, Schmit struck out the side.
In the top of the eighth, Freeman got a run-scoring infield single. Schreckengost picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly.
In the top of the ninth, Bill Karns took the mound for the Orioles. Stahl padded his stats with an RBI single. Stahl scored from third when Karns made a bad throw to first after fielding a Parent grounder. Collins followed with an RBI triple. Larry McLean brought Collins home with a single. Hemphill got a two-out RBI single.
The two teams combined for 36 hits in the contest and the Orioles also committed 5 errors.
Final score: Boston 17 Baltimore 5.
