I've always wanted to have a team representing the
Mesoamerican ballgame, which absolutely fascinates me. Here we have one of the Mayan
pelotero funerary statues from
Jaina, in front of Chichen Itza. Same clip art from the Merida Dragonflies in the first post of this thread, which I'm replacing, because that was a SFgiants logo that I just reskinned.
The statue ballplayer is about to strike the rubber ball with his hip, but to me I decided he was a lefthanded batter who had just hit a double the other way past the third baseman, he has flipped his bat and is turning to start to run to first.
Kind of in the Carlton Fisk pose. I also put his feet so that he is stepping out of the internal "past" circle out into the present (well, it's a stretch, but at least, it's a nice metaphor). The bat is also flying out into the world
The Y and YP small logos are meant to look like the Leones de Yucatan
logo. The green color is from the flag of Yucatan.
