We jag in a slight southwesterly direction now for a look at the Cobblers out of Portsmouth OH. The Cobblers - rare for these clubs - existed in a single clump of years, in this case 1908-15 when they were members of the Ohio State League, and used just the one moniker, representative of the city's extensive shoe industry at the time.
Future HOFer Billy Southworth was at the club in 1912 and 1913, and other alumni include the brilliantly-nicknamed Pickles Dillhoefer and Sad Sam Jones.
