Good question. The Cards and the Yankees were kind of “dead men walking” in 2022. You could see the weaknesses, and little was done to fill those holes. Not good teams. [When the Phillies quickly dispatched St. Louis in the Wild Card Series, I couldn’t help thinking “what were they even doing there in the first place?” Of course, I also thought that about Atlanta, after the Phils dispatched them in the NLCS….] The Padres clearly had the talent, but yeah all knuckleheads who had never put it together, so doubts there. The Red Sox are a good team going through a makeover in a tough, tough Division. I am no fan, but I thought the Mutts would dominate, leaving my Phillies in the dust. Wrong. Who could foresee that every key player on Atlanta would have a career year in the same season? That’s like flipping a coin and getting heads, twenty times in a row. Possible; but not realistic.
