1902 World Series -- Game 4
The Boston Beaneaters (3-1) moved one step closer to securing the World Series title as they dominated the Boston Americans (1-3) by an 8 to 0 score.
Pete Dowling (2-0) kept the opposition in check, scattering 4 hits and walking 3 as he cruised to the shutout win; Game Score of 77. Noodles Hahn (0-2) was ineffective most of the day, as he allowed 8 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits, 4 walks, 1 wild pitch, and 1 hit batsman in 7 2/3 innings of play; Game Score of 33. Jake Boyd was called in to cover the final 1 1/3 innings of play in which he kept the Beaneaters in check.
Jimmy Williams (2 for 5, Double, 4 RBIs), Germany Smith (2 for 3, 3 Runs, 1 Walk, 1 Stolen Base), and Willie Clark (1 for 3, 1 Run, 2 Stolen Bases) led their team to victory. Bill Lange (2 for 3, 1 Walk) was the lone bright spot in the loss.
