Game 137: Boston Americans vs. Washington Senators

A competitive, albeit sloppy, game that turned on errors, allowing the Washington Senators (66-71) to top the Boston Americans (92-45) by a score of 5 to 4.

With both defenses committing 6 errors each, it was an uphill battle for both starting pitchers. In the end, Rube Waddell (22-14) picked up the win by allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 11 hits while striking out 5 to finish with a Game Score of 56. Noodles Hahn was the victim of his team's shoddy defense, as he allowed 5 runs (0 earned) on 11 hits and 2 walks; Game Score of 51.

With a combined 22 hits between the teams, there were several fine hitting outcomes, led by Bobby Wallace (2 for 4, Triple, 1 Run, 1 RBI, 1 Walk) and Roy Brashear (2 for 4, 1 Run, 1 RBI, 1 Walk) for the Senators, while Kid Elberfeld (3 for 4, Double, Triple, 1 Run, 1 RBI), Bill Lange (3 for 5, 1 RBI, 3 Stolen Bases), and Frank Chance (2 for 4, Triple, 1 Run, 1 Stolen Base) played well for Boston.

Player of the Game: Rube Waddell
