Tom Sestito crosses a line, earns demotion
Tom Sestito was back in the big leagues, finding his way back onto the Canucks after trade deadline day left their forward depth depleted. Injuries left the door open for him to play a regular role in the postseason as well, not that he has performed well, going -4 in four games with one assist.
He squandered all that yesterday, however, going on a profanity laden tirade about European players in a radio interview. It would seem he was inebriated at the time, and issued an apology, but bridges with a lot of key Canucks personnel have been burned and Trevor Linden immediately sent him packing back to Utica. "
That sort of conduct is not only unprofessional, it is unacceptable in our organization. We will not be re-signing Tom this offseason and we apologize to any who were offended by his recent comments. He does not speak for the Vancouver Canucks organization," commented Trevor in a press conference.
Vancouver is on the ropes in their series with Minnesota, and head home to Rogers Arena for a must win game to stay alive.
