I get the gist of the question.
Comapring to dice strat game is good for me. All the outcomes are based on charts and cards and random die rolls. They are not influenced by SEASON Modifiers.
This is where OOTP confuses me. With the modifiers on, everything 'should' deviate back to the 'norm' because that is what the modifier does so it is not totally random (in my mind)

To me every single pitch, play should be always account for every factor.
Where as in Strat you sometimes check a fielding chart or weather, in OOPTB it can automatically check every factor available and insert random events.
My guess after playing it is, it is kinda like strat in that GB-6 comes up and it is a routine play where nothing is checked. Only x% of things are checked against variable throughout a game.

I would suggest starting by playing 1 historic year season only with no minors with hx transactions. I think that simulates stratomatic the best.
