Here's a scenario: Imagine if the Arab Major League had started in 2022, stealing away a bunch of major league players, causing MLB to harshly criticize the usurpers. Then, midway through the 2023 season, the Arab League suddenly "merged with" (that is, bought out) Major League Baseball!

In my leagues, the "real" year of the league is not consequential because I don't do anything differently. I operate with modern finances and keep modern baseball across eras so it's easier for me to judge players across generations.
I've been running the same save since real-world 2019 or so, and I started this league in 1901 and integrated the league by the 1930s, so it's always been a weird proving ground of whatever came to my mind at any time (including splitting the majors from 44 teams back to 30 on a whim) and I cooked up this idea on the fly and I'm making it up as I go along.
