Not the way to start a new month. In dropping back-to-back games for the first time this season, the Boston Americans (43-15) fell behind the Detroit Tigers (33-25) early and could not mount a comeback in the 3 to 1 loss. Togie Pittinger (9-6) picked up the win after allowing 1 earned run on 7 hits to finish with a Game Score of 71. Jesse Tannehill (12-3) was tagged with the loss after giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits (99 total pitches) for a Game Score of 58.

At the plate, Candy LaChance (2 for 2, 1 RBI) and Mike Donlin (2 for 3, 1 Run) played well for the Tigers, while Fred Clarke (1 for 4, Home Run, 1 Run, 1 RBI) and Frank Chance (2 for 4) kept Boston close.
