The game also uses an idealized model of time zones, if I recall. So that could lead to some slight issues, like if the game thinks a city "should" be in an earlier or later timezone than they are IRL (ie. if when we calculate, we think Detroit should be in Central time and not Eastern time, we will likely adjust the sunrise times according to that).
We might be off for sure, though, it's a tricky subject. What date and city was that game in, and what time was that in that view, and when did it shift to night-time?

That's Shea Stadium at 930 at night. Didn't shift to night time until 10:15 pm. I had it Eastern Time.
