2024 World Series Game 3

Game Summary

The Guardians, hoping to regain their footing at home, got off to a strong start with Andres Gimenez leading off the game with a triple and Kyle Tucker singling him home. George Valera also reached, but the Guardians could not add on from there. Joey Gallo awoke from his slumber and made the Guardians pay with a 2-run blast to put the Dodgers in front 2-1, but the Guardians came right back as Carlos Correa doubled and was driven in by Michael A. Taylor. Kyle Tucker kept the pressure up by leading off the 3rd with a double, but was stranded by three consecutive strikeouts. The Dodgers once again capitalized as Mookie Betts started the 4th with a HR, but the Guardians again punched back as Andres Gimenez tied it at 3 on a RBI infield single, Kyle Tucker worked a bases-loaded walk for the lead, and George Valera took a hit-by-pitch right after to make it 5-3 Guardians in the 4th. This forced the Dodgers to their bullpen, and Alex Vesia prevented any further runs from scoring. The Dodgers, as usual, came right back with a double by Will Smith and a RBI single by Freddie Freeman. Trea Turner also reached, allowing Gavin Lux to tie the game once again on a RBI single of his own. Jakob Hernandez then entered to try and escape the jam, and did so with the help of a diving catch by Jose Ramirez. The Guardians failed to get anything going in the bottom of the 5th, and the Dodgers kept rolling by loading the bases with 1 out in the 6th. Marlon Perez entered to get the lefties out but failed as he gave up a go-ahead 2-run single to Pavin Smith, and Gavin Lux followed with a RBI single of his own two batters later. James Karinchak entered to try and stop the bleeding, but the Dodgers might as well have been stealing signs as Mookie Betts ripped a 2-out, 2-run double into the corner to make it 10-5 Dodgers in a disaster inning. Michael A. Taylor led off the bottom of the 6th with a HR to try and spark another rally, and Carlos Correa homered an inning later to make it 10-7, but that wasn't enough as Raisel Iglesias collected a 6-out save to bring the Dodgers one win away from repeating as World Series champions. The Dodgers are making the Guardians look like what the Guardians made the Rangers look like.
