State of the Team

News Dump

Manager Terry Francona decided the team was so bad he wanted to retire. So did our Scouting Director. So, we hired Aaron Sele as the new manager on a 5-year pact, as he has good relationships with every player and has an "Outstanding" rating with handling development as a coach. We hired Will Ohman to be our new Scouting Director on a 5-year pact as well, as he was the best Scouting Director on the market.

Awards

Oscar Gonzalez won AL Rookie of the Year, and Zach Plesac and Austin Hedges won AL Gold Glove at their respective positions.

Arbitration

C Luke Maile was non-tendered. Every other arbitration-eligible player was tendered a contract. We opened discussions with Shane Bieber on a long-term contract but he was not interested in buying out any free-agent years without an opt-out or player options tacked onto the end of his deal.

Offseason Goals

My main goal is to upgrade the starting rotation, which I think begins with upgrading the defense so that we have more leeway on the type of pitchers we can acquire to improve our staff. I also want to add more thump to the offense.
