Player Editor: entering pitching stats... how?
I have no idea how to enter pitching stats on the player editor. Everything I try (to back into the correct numbers) doesn't work. Not all of the fields are editable - for examples, Batters Faced (BF) and Hits Allowed (HA) - are not editable, so you have to back into those numbers by adjusting other numbers... But when I try to do that, well, it's hard to explain but other numbers just start jumping around and it's a mess.
So I'll start with a specific scenario & question: Let's say I've just started a historical game for the 1988 season and I want to see - among other things - how the Dodgers would do with a relatively healthy Fernando Valenzuela. I want him to be decent, but not dominant, so I basically want to edit his pitching stats in the editor so he looks like the 1989 version of himself, rather than the 1988 version. What steps would I take? No matter what I try, nothing seems to significantly affect his opponent's batting avg. The game wants it to be in the high 260's, when in reality it was .251. IOW, I can screw around with the numbers in AB and IP, but then the HA (hits allowed, not editable) keeps changing to where the batting avg is around .265 or so... (I can adjust the BABIP number that's just above - that will affect batting avg - but that alters BB's & K's too much.)
One way to lower opponent's batting avg is to increase his K's. But that's not what I want to do. And that shouldn't be the only way to lower Opp Avg...
Maddening. Anybody have the answers?
