You could always expand the league and pick an expansion team. In my current save I spent the first 10 seasons jumping around trying to win a WS with teams that don't have one. Got one with the Padres, and got close with the Mariners. I expanded to Charlotte and Mexico City and picked Mexico City. I also moved the A's to Las Vegas with a fancy new stadium and restructured the league to 4 4 team divisions. I also moved a bunch of teams around so the divisions accurately represented their geographic names. Mostly wanted the Yankees and Mets in the same division.
