2028 Opening Day Roster and Preseason Predictions

Nobody got hurt during spring training and the team went 12-4 in the preseason (I only play 3 weeks). The roster was pretty much set going in with only two moves to be made. First, Hudson Head was put on waivers as I had hinted at in the State of the Team post at season's end and the other was that with the four new pitchers we acquired (G-Rod, Diaz, Green & Beeter) someone from last year's staff had to go so it was this guy:

Andrews was in that nether region of not good enough to make the team but good enough to think someone would claim him on waivers, so I shopped him instead. I was looking for someone with options or on a minor league contract since there was no room on the active roster and came up with Leones who has an interesting hitting profile although he's underachieved these ratings in the minors:

He's a 50-55 corner outfielder and we have a ton of OFs, but he was the best value I could get for Andrews.

So here's how the roster shakes out:

C-Cartaya, Pinto
1B-Caminero
2B-Albies
SS-Wander
3B-Luciano
LF-Santana
IF-J.Jackson
CF-DeLoach
RF-Wood
DH-Blaze Jordan
OF-Chin, L.White

SP-Swanda, G.Rodriguez, Eldridge, Bradley, Orze
LR-Beeter, Sears
MR-Ruegger, German, Gau, Moran
SU-M.Green, Fairbanks
CL-E.Diaz

Going with Edwin as the closer although Green and Fairbanks can do the job as well.

The preseason picks:

They love our pitching but hate our hitting. This won't be the first preseason predictions I've defied.
