The San Jose Raiders travelled overnight to Atlanta to face the 56-43 Colonels in what would be a tough road trip. Manager Mike Moore decided to make a few line up changes for the first game of the series.

The game started quietly for both sides with both the Atlanta Colonels starter Marty Richards and the Raiders Ron McDonald keeping things tight.
It wasn’t until the 4th inning when a run was scored. The top of the 4th saw Mark Sofka of the San Jose Raiders smack one 422 feet for the opening run.
Things continued to be tight as the pitching staff of both teams battled it out in a tough duel to see how could give up the least hits. Ron McDonald went 7 innings with only 5 hits given up while Marty Richards gave up only 3 hits in 6.2 innings.
The Bullpens proved to be just as frugal and it took until the top of the 9th before any more runs were added. Mark Tice hit a triple in the for San Jose. He then came home when Enrique Huerta hit a single.
The Raiders turned to closer Seth Fiebelkorn to bring the game home. He did this with all the ease he has shown all year as he gave up just a single in the bottom of the 9th to give the Raiders a 2-0 win.
This win raised the Raiders record to 51-49
As we near the trading deadline there are a large number of trades going on but nothing involving the San Jose Raiders. There have not even been any rumours of a trade for the Raiders.
