Today saw 31331 fans come into Raiders Field to see the first game of the 3 game series between the San Jose Raiders and the 45-50 Raleigh Beavers. Manager Mike Moore went with the same line up as the day before.

The game turned into a run fest for the San Jose Raiders as the obliterated the Raleigh Beavers. It started in the bottom of the first as they got the first 2 of their runs. Hugo Arias was the first Raider on base as he was given a walk. He then scored when Mark Sofka hit a triple. Mark Sofka then scored when Alex Robinson hit a single.

The Raleigh Beavers got 1 back in the top of the second. Rob Philbin hit a double to lead off. He moved to third when Alex Vasquez hit a ground out. A flyout from Bryan Vetrano then saw Philbin home after he tagged up and beat the throw from right.

The top of the third saw the Beavers tie the game up. Manny Huerta hit a single. A double by Rob Philbin saw him to third. Huerta then came home when Alex Vasquez hit a single.

The San Jose Raiders re took the lead in the bottom of the third. Mark Tice led off with a triple. He scored when Enrique Huerta hit a single. Huerta moved to third when Hugo Arias hit a double. Huerta scored on a Mark Sofka single while Arias moved to third. Arias then scored when Alex Robinson hit into a fielders choice. This made the score 5-2 the Raiders.

The bottom of the 4th saw the Raiders add to their lead. Mark Tice again led off with a triple. Huerta was given a walk. The bases were then loaded when Hugo Arias also walked. A wild pitch to Mark Sofka saw all the runners move a base with Tice coming home to score. The bases were then loaded again when Mark Sofka walked. Alex Robinson hit into a fielders choice that saw Huerta score to make the score line read 7-2 to the Raiders.

Scott Ha led the bottom of the fifth off with a single for the San Jose Raiders. Mike Lentz then hit a double that saw Ha sprinting round third and heading for home, he made it comfortably with no throw coming in. An Armando Sandoval single saw Lentz move to third. Lentz then scored and Sandoval moved to third when Mark Tice singled. Enrique Huerta then hit one 371 feet to score a 3 run home run to make it 5 runs in the inning for the Raiders.

The bottom of the sixth saw the Raiders continue on their run spree. Scott Ha led off with a walk. He moved to second on an Armando Sandoval single. A double by Mark Tice saw Ha home and Sandoval to third. Enrique Huerta then came in and hit another long ball over the fence, this time 361 feet, to pick up his second 3 run homer of the game. This made the score line 16-2 in favour of the Raiders.

The runs dried up after this with the San Jose Raiders winning the game 16-2.

This win lifted the Raiders to a record of 49-48 for the year.

Mark Tice tied the Wolf Conference regular season game record for triples with 2. Mark Tice and Enrique Huerta also set a new San Jose Raiders run scored record in a game at 4. Enrique Huerta also tied the Wolf Conference regular season game record for RBI’s at 7.
