The St. Louis Roughnecks have bought their 36-40 record into San Jose to face the Raiders. Manager Mike Moore has changed the line up to get Mark Sofka back in for the first game against the Roughnecks. 26834 fans were at Raiders Field to see the game.

The game took a while to get going but when it did the St. Louis Roughnecks exploded. Joseph Soutelo led the top of the 5th off with a triple. He scored after a Mike Borrego walk and a Xenophon Passas single. Borrego and Passas moved a base when Melgar singled. Borrego came home on a balk. Passas and Melgar then came home when Bill tiller singled, Melgar beating the throw from left. This put the Roughnecks up by 4 runs to 0.
The San Jose Raiders finally got into the game in the bottom of the 6th. Alex Robinson hit a single. Mark Sofka then hit a triple that bought Robinson home. Mark Sofka then scored when Hugo Arias ground out.
The top of the 7th saw the Roughneck get back to a 4 run lead. Luis Melgar singled to lead off. He moved to third when Antonio Rodriguez hit a double. Melgar then scored when Paul Kent hit a single. Rodriguez came home when Bill Tiller hit into a fielders choice.
The San Jose Raiders pulled it back to within 2 again in the bottom of the 7th. Mike Lentz was given a walk and then Tony Patton hit a ball 371 feet to pick up a 2 run home run.
That finished the scoring for the game as the San Jose Raiders went down 6-4 in the first game of the series to drop to 39-38 for the year.
