Boston needed to sweep the White Sox to remain in the American League pennant chase. Instead, they dropped 2 of 3 games and all about dashed any postseason hope.

Game 132: A great game by the Americans (79-55), as they pounded the ball and got a solid pitching performance from Cy Young to get the 12 to 2 win over the White Sox (54-80). Young (20-12) allowed 2 runs (0 earned) on 6 hits and 3 walks for a Game Score of 70.
