Games 123-125: Boston Americans vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Not the results that the Boston fans were looking for in the 3-game series against the Brewers:
Game 123: The Americans (72-51) fell behind early and could not catch up to the Brewers (51-72) as they lost the game 6 to 5. Frank Owen (15-16) picked up the win by allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 9 hits and 2 walks to finish with a Game Score of 56. Patsy Donovan (3 for 4, 2 Doubles, 1 Run, 2 RBIs) and Bill Hassamaer (3 for 4, Double, 2 RBIs, 1 Walk) had a great day at the plate. Jesse Tannehill (18-12) took the loss after allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings; Game Score of 44. Bob Lawson pitched the final inning in the loss. Jesse Hoffmeister (2 for 5, Triple, 2 RBIs) played well in the loss.

Game 124: An outstanding game by Cy Young helped Boston (73-51) steamroll Milwaukee (51-73) by a 7 to 1 score. Young (18-12), who is now 9-2 in his last 11 starts, limited the opposition to 1 earned un on 7 hits and 2 walks for a Game Score of 70. Bill Lange (2 for 5, Triple, 2 Runs, 2 RBIs), Fred Clarke (1 for 4, 2 Runs, 1 Walk), and John Farrell (3 for 5, 1 Run, 2 RBIs) provided the offense. "Sunny Jack" Sutthoff (12-18) was removed after 6 innings due to allowing 7 runs (4 earned runs) on 11 hits and 3 walks; Game Score of 29. Frank Killen and Billy Rhines had mop-up duties. Billy Lauder (2 for 4, Triple, 1 Run, 1 Walk) played well in the loss.
Player of the Game: Cy Young (Season: #15 / Career: #15)
Game 125: A dramatic extra-innings game that ended with the Milwaukee Brewers (52-73) scoring the winning run after Boston (73-52) 3rd baseman Jesse Hoffmeister booted the ball in the 12th inning to end the game with a 2 to 1 score. While starting pitcher Tom Hughes (9-22, ND) did not get credited for the win, he pitched very well as he allowed just 1 earned run on 4 hits and 3 walks over 8 innings for a Game Score of 77. Gene Wright pitched 2 innings of relief and then turned it over for the final 2 innings of pitching by Roger Denzer (1-0). Fred Klobedanz (16-14) took the loss despite allowing 2 runs (0 earned) on 7 hits and 2 walks over 11 innings for a Game Score of 80. Win Mercer (2 for 6, 1 Walk, 1 Stolen Base) and Fred Clarke (2 for 4, 1 Walk) hit the ball well.
