Easier than replaying a whole season.
Year end in case i mess something up in the offseason.
It may seem like overkill but when you start in the 19th century i can't count how many times ive found something i missed and had to go back.
If i had to restart every year from the begining i would never get anyyear simmed.
As far as almanac i understand it be easier than opening the game but i can't really think of anytime i would be looking at my league without opening the game.

If you create almanacs, running it at the end of the season is the only way to capture league transactions between the start of the offseason and the end of the year. Once you hit Jan 1, the almanac won't pick them up.
However running the almanac right before the offseason hits is the only way to create team pages that have the regular season roster.
It's a bit of work to get a proper almanac for a season, imo.
