I didn't want Wainwright back -- not on the real Cardinals or on my team or at any price -- so I let him become a free agent.
My thinking was that in a real life if Waino had become a free agent, he would only sign with a legitimate contender -- and probably just the Braves -- or he would retire.
When he signed with the Giants for like $3 million, I retired him.
Anyway, my starting rotation is mediocre.
I really don't have an ace, just five guys who pitch well enough to keep me in games.
My rotation going into the playoffs:
1, Steven Matz. 2, Jack Flaherty. 3, David Matos. 4, Miles Mikolas. 5, Zack Eflin.
Matos is a 24-year-old rookie out of Cuba, who I signed as a free agent.
I acquired Eflin at the trade deadline from Arizona. He had a series of really bad starts after I got him and I am thinking he won't make the roster for the three-game series with Milwaukee.
I traded Jordan Montgomery to the D'backs in the Eflin trade. He had gone 4-9 with a 5.03 ERA in 18 starts for me at the time of the trade.
He went 4-3 with a 4.38 ERA in 13 starts for Arizona.
